The Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) Results Area II (FADAMA CARES) on Thursday distributed motorcycles to its 27 facilitators in Jigawa.

In a speech at the brief ceremony in Dutse, the state programme coordinator, Aliyu Inuwa-Dutse, charged the facilitators to use the motorcycles responsibly.

Mr Inuwa-Dutse said that the machines were provided to support their field operations and ensure effective service delivery.

He highlighted the importance of the intervention in strengthening the facilitators’ mobility and urged them to adhere to the signed agreements for maintaining the motorcycles.

He said, “These motorcycles are provided to ease your fieldwork and improve the overall impact of FADAMA CARES in Jigawa.

“It is your responsibility to ensure they are used solely for the intended purposes.”

A member of the beneficiary selection committee, Aminu Adamu, commended the facilitators for their contributions to the success of FADAMA CARES in the state.

Mr Adamu described the gesture as part of the agency’s attempts to acknowledge and reward them for their tireless efforts.

He, however, urged them to ensure proper maintenance and security of the motorcycles for a long-lasting benefit.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Kazaure facilitator, Yahaya Muhammad, expressed gratitude to the agency for the intervention.

Mr Muhammad described it as a timely solution to the transportation challenges they were facing in reaching rural communities, especially the hard-to-reach areas.

He urged NG-CARES to assist them financially in the fuelling and maintenance of the motorcycles.

He assured the team of the facilitators’ commitment to use the motorcycles effectively to achieve the goals of the FADAMA CARES initiative.

NG-CARES is an emergency operation designed to support the vulnerable. It is aimed at mitigating the impact of COVID-19 and other crises on the livelihoods of the poor and vulnerable households.
