NFF president Gusau elected first vice president of WAFU B
The president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has been elected as the first vice president of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B.
The election took place on Friday during the ongoing CAF African Schools Football Championship (WAFU B qualifying tournament) in Niamey.
In a significant reshuffle of leadership within the region’s football governance, Kurt Edwin-Simeon Okraku, the president of the Ghana Football Association, emerged as the new president of WAFU B.
Meanwhile, Oumarou Sawadogo, who leads the Burkinabe Football Federation, secured the position of second vice president.
Gusau’s election to this influential role underscores Nigeria’s continued prominence in West African football and is expected to foster deeper collaboration across member nations.
The WAFU B zone comprises football federations from seven countries in the region, including Nigeria, Ghana, and Burkina Faso.
The leadership changes come amid efforts to bolster football development and competitions across the subregion.
As the newly elected first vice president, Gusau is anticipated to play a key role in advancing the union’s goals and strengthening its presence on the continental stage.
