New Yobe CP pledges intelligence-driven policing

The newly appointed Commissioner of Police (CP) in Yobe, Usman Jibrin, has pledged to implement intelligence-driven policing across the state amid security concerns.
He made the pledge at a news conference in Damaturu on Monday, stressing the need for intensified patrols and enhanced rapid response to criminal activities across the state.
Mr Jibrin said the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights must be upheld in the discharge of duties.
The commissioner also promised enhanced collaboration with sister agencies, working closely with the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other security agencies under a unified approach to maintain peace and stability.
Jibrin said particular attention would be given to crimes such as youth restiveness, drug abuse, thuggery and other activities capable of threatening peace in communities.
On community policing, he said the command would deepen collaboration with community leaders, traditional institutions, youth groups and other stakeholders to build trust and improve information sharing.
He assured the people of the state that the command was committed to maintaining law and order, calling on the public to always support the police by providing credible information to combat crime.
Mr Jibrin thanked the Inspector-General of Police for his appointment, saying he would not betray the trust reposed in him.
