The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted full institutional accreditation to 18 Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, programmes and approved eight new ones for the institution.

The rector, Salisu Usman, disclosed this in a statement by the institution’s spokesperson, Uredo Omale, on Tuesday in Lokoja.

Mr Usman noted that the 100 per cent quality assurance success recorded for the 27 programmes consolidated the resounding accreditation success in 2022 when all the 30 programmes presented to NBTE got full accreditation.

The rector said the exercise was conducted by the board from December 18 to 20, 2024.

He stressed that with the outcome, no programme in the polytechnic was denied or given interim accreditation status, adding that it was a reflection of the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and stability.

Mr Usman explained that out of the 57 programmes in the institution, 19 were introduced under his administration, representing 33.3 per cent of all programmes in the polytechnic.

The rector commended the collective efforts of the institution’s principal officers, management, academic board, and staff for their dedication and support before, during, and after the accreditation and resource inspection visitation.

He thanked Governor Ahmed Ododo for his unwavering support and for creating the enabling environment for the institution to thrive.

Mr Usman reiterated his commitment to rebranding the polytechnic to the admiration of other institutions of learning in Nigeria and beyond.

“The programmes that were granted approval for commencement after resource inspection visitation include HND Civil Engineering Technology, HND Mechanical Engineering Technology (Manufacturing Option), and HND Building Technology.

“Others are HND Architectural Technology; HND Surveying and Geo-Informatics; ND Printing Technology; ND Fashion Design and Clothing Technology; and ND Mass Communication,” he listed.
