Danladi Jatau, the speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has called on the Afo people and other citizens of the state to be united and peaceful and forgive one another at all times.

The speaker made the call on Saturday during the 2025 “Igbada-Odudu Kya” annual cultural festival of the Afo people in Agwada Development Area, Kokona Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

Mr Jatau said such a move would foster better relationships and lead to progress and speedy development in the state.

He noted that unity and peace were requirements for fostering steady growth and development in the community.

“My appeal is for us to continue to live in peace with one another and let us also learn to forgive one another.

”For our society to grow, we have to be peaceful, united, and have the spirit of forgiveness,” he said.

Mr Jatua, however, regretted how the recent skirmishes in the Apawu community of the area led to the death of two people.

“Unfortunately, the misunderstanding in the Apawu community claimed two lives; this is indeed sad, and we pray it doesn’t repeat itself,” he lamented.

Mr Jatau thanked the Afo people and other constituents for massively voting for him to represent them in the assembly. He called for more support to enable him and Governor Abdullahi Sule of the state to succeed.

The speaker, who donated N1 million for the completion of an accommodation for members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in the area, promised to deliver dividends of democracy to the constituency.
