Nasarawa speaker calls on Nigerians to embrace inter-tribal marriages

The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, has called on Nigerians to embrace inter-tribal marriages to foster national unity.
Mr Jatau stated that this is also intended to promote peace and enhance national integration among the diverse ethnic and religious groups in the country.
He made the call during the wedding Fatiha of Musa Gude, a member representing the Uke/Karshi State Constituency at the assembly, and his wife, Asmau Ahmadu.
The wedding Fatiha took place on Friday at the Al-Furqan Masjid in Nasarawa LGA of Kano state.
The speaker remarked that the marriage between the new couple would strengthen the relationship between Kano and Nasarawa States.
He also urged the newlyweds to embrace patience, tolerance, forgiveness, and other virtues for a happy and successful marriage.
Mr Jatau emphasised that for any marriage to be successful, both partners must practice effective communication and understanding.
“On behalf of myself, the honourable members, and the staff of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, we rejoice with one of our own, Hon. Musa Saidu Gude, the Jagaban Karshi. We are happy for him and his wife and pray to God to bless their marriage.
“I want to call on Hon. Gude not to show discrimination or offer preferential treatment while handling the affairs of his family,” the speaker said.
Mr Jatau advised the couple not to allow third parties to interfere in their marriage.
While congratulating the couple, the speaker also wished them a happy married life.
Mr Jatau used the occasion to call on the people of Nasarawa and Kano states, as well as other states, to continue coexisting peacefully and tolerating one another irrespective of their affiliations for the overall development of the country.
For his part, the groom, who took Mrs Asmau as his fourth wife, expressed gratitude to God for making their dream a reality.
