Nasarawa Assembly moves to address illegal taxation with revenue law

The Nasarawa House of Assembly says the harmonisation and administration of revenue law will address illegal and multiple taxation in the state.
Danladi Jatau, the House speaker, stated this after a deliberation on the bill for a law to amend, repeal and re-enact the Nasarawa State Harmonisation and Administration of Revenue Law and for purposes connected therewith at plenary on Tuesday in Lafia.
The speaker said the bill when passed, would curtail multiple tax collections and boost the state’s internally generated revenue.
He also said the bill, if passed and assented to by Governor Abdullahi Sule, would checkmate irregularities associated with revenue collection in the state.
Mr Jatau commended Mr Sule for initiating the bill and members of the House for their positive contributions to the bill.
Earlier, Suleiman Yakubu, the House majority leader, moved a motion for adoption of the committee report, seconded by Luka Iliya, the minority leader.
The House unanimously adopted the report.
