Nasarawa Assembly confirms Gov. Sule’s Commissioner-nominee

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has confirmed Abubakar Akum as a commissioner and member of the state Executive Council.
This followed the adoption of a motion by majority leader Mohammed Omadefu (APC-Keana) and seconded by minority leader Luka Zhekaba (PDP-Obi 11) at Wednesday’s plenary.
Mr Akum would replace Aliyu Ahmed, the state’s Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development, and Chieftaincy Affairs, who left after being appointed as the chief executive officer of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI).
Speaking shortly, the speaker, Ibrahim Abdullahi, urged the nominee to discharge his duties without fear or favour.
He congratulated him and wished him a successful tenure.
“We hereby confirm the nomination of Mr Abubakar Akum as commissioner and member of the state executive council,” he said.
He urged the commissioner nominee to live above board and contribute positively to the development of the state.
The speaker directed the clerk of the House to communicate the resolution to Governor Abdullahi Sule for further action.
