NAF trains 816 recruits in military tactics

The Nigerian Air Force has trained 816 recruits in military tactics through an inter-squadron sand modelling competition at the Recruits Camp, NAF base in Kaduna.
The Military Training Centre held the competition on Saturday, October 31, for recruits of Basic Military Training Course 46/2025.
The exercise aimed to test the recruits’ understanding of military tactics and their ability to assess terrain and understand battlefield conditions.
The commandant of the centre, Air Commodore A.O. Akins, said at the event that sand modelling helped recruits develop tactical awareness and improve their ability to assess operational situations.
Mr Akins said the exercise was in line with the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke’s, emphasis on training personnel in tactical and decision-making skills.
He commended the recruits for their initiative and attention to detail, while emphasising the importance of effective communication and coordination.
“A good model poorly briefed is a battle poorly fought,” he said.
MI-35 Squadron emerged as the overall winner of the competition
The commandant thanked the Chief of the Air Staff for supporting training at the centre and urged instructors to maintain their commitment to quality training.
