N1.5 billion generated in 10 months, Ogun education ministry says

The Ogun Ministry of Education, Science and Technology says it generated N1.5 billion between January and October.
Abayomi Arigbabu, the education commissioner, disclosed this on Wednesday in Abeokuta while defending the ministry’s 2025 budget proposal before the Ogun Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation.
The committee is headed by Musefiu Lamidi (APC-Ado Odo Ota II).
The commissioner stated that the ministry had earmarked N24.7 billion as recurrent expenditure and N34.7 billion as capital, with a total budget proposal of N59.4 billion.
He explained that the ministry proposed to rake in N2.5 billion as revenue in 2025, adding that the revenue would be generated from private school licenses, inspection fees, school/tuition/examination fees and renewal fees.
“Others are sales of bills of entries, application forms, and earnings from the use of government halls, among others,” he said.
Mr Arigbabu pointed out that the state government would purchase educational and vocational equipment.
He added that more construction would be done in schools, saying there was a need to intervene in the number of schools in the state.
