Murdered Hunters: Cop Hadaina Dan-Taki threatens mob reprisal against southerners in North

Amid public uproar over extrajudicial killing of 16 travelling hunters in Uromi, Edo State, a police officer, Hadaina Dan-Taki, has vowed to lead mob reprisal against southerners in the North within two weeks.
A screenshot of Mr Dan-Taki threatening violence against southerners in the North in a Facebook post went viral on Wednesday.
“I swear to Almighty God, we must do something for you guys, have you forgotten all your brothers that are leaving (sic) here in the North make my word, after one week you shall see the result,” Mr Dan-Taki posted on Facebook.
A check on his Facebook page shows it’s locked denying public access to his profile. However, his profile photo and header photo showed Mr Dan-Taki dressed in a police uniform.
Force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, did not take calls to his mobile by Peoples Gazette seeking comments on Mr Dan-Taki’s controversial Facebook post. However, Mr Adejobi on Wednesday said Mr Dan-Taki’s post had been noted for necessary action.
“Noted for necessary action. Thanks,” Mr Adejobi told an X user who tagged him to screenshot of the viral post on X.
Recall that the 16 northern hunters travelling through Uromi from Portharcourt were ambushed, doused with petrol and burnt by mob on allegations of being kidnappers.
President Bola Tinubu has ordered a manhunt for those behind the killings in Uromi. Similarly, Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, visited Kano State to commiserate with the victims’ families, disclosing that 14 persons had been arrested in relation to the crime.
