Sri Lanka was plunged into darkness for three days after a monkey tampered with an electric grid station.

Reuters reported on Friday that Sri Lanka’s power minister, Kumara Jayakody, blamed the country’s power outage on “a monkey that disrupted a grid station in a Colombo suburb.”

The power outage started on Sunday and lasted until Thursday, leaving 22 million people on the Island in darkness.

“All efforts are being made to restore the grid to full capacity, but power cuts will be implemented to manage peak demand hours in the night,” the Ceylon Electricity Board said in a statement.
