The Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh, has commended BUA Group for donating a building to the North-West Development Commission (NWDC).

The minister made the commendation on Sunday during an inspection visit to the multi-purpose facility along Court Road in the Kano metropolis.

The handing over of the building was held on May 20 and was attended by dignitaries from the public and private sectors.

Mr Momoh said the gesture would greatly support the NWDC in building a strong foundation for regional development programmes.

The minister explained that the gesture was commendable, saying the facility would make the commission’s function easier.

He called on the management of the commission and other staff to make proper use of the facility for the benefit of the region’s people.

The minister hoped that other wealthy people, companies, government agencies and organisations would compliment BUA’s gesture.

Mr Momoh assured the management that the federal government was looking forward to providing a permanent site for the commission.

Earlier, the Chairman of the commission, Lawal Isma’ila-Yakawada, informed the minister that an ad hoc committee had been set up to facilitate the furnishing of the offices.

The chairman said all the necessary majors had been put in place to make the multipurpose building usable.

He assured the minister that in the next few weeks, the facility would be ready for inauguration by him.

The commission’s managing director, Shehu Maaji, said the initiative marked a new beginning in addressing developmental issues in the region.

He assured of all the necessary support, commitments and dedication towards moving the North-West and the commission forward.

Other dignitaries in attendance were the board members representing Kano State in the commission, Ali Wudil and Nasidi Ali from Jigawa.
