An Oyo State High Court, Ibadan Division, on Thursday, ordered remand of one 31-year-old Kilani Abass for alleged unlawful possession of a firearm.

Abass, whose address was not provided, is charged with conspiracy and unlawful possession of a firearm.

He, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecution counsel, Olaoluwa Okunrotifa, said the defendant committed the offences on May 11, at  4.45 a.m. at Fiditi in Oyo Town.

Mr Okunrotifa alleged that the defendant and others at large were found with one locally-made pistol without a lawful authority.

He said the offences contravened provisions of Sections 516 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000, and Section 6(b) of the Robbery and Firearms Act, 2004.

He prayed the court to remand the defendant pending advice from the state director of public prosections.

Justice Oluwaseun Ademola-Salami remanded the defendant in a correctional facility, and adjourned the case until Sept. 30 for mention.
