The police have identified the man who breached security, rattling  President Bola Tinubu and his security aides during his speech in Kaduna State as a mentally ill member of the All Progressives Congress.

Spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, Mansir Hassan, in a statement on Friday, identified the man as “Umar Mohammed, a native of Anguwan Muazu in Kaduna.

Mr Hassan added, “He was born with psychiatric disorders; he is of unsound mind” and “an ardent supporter of Mr. President and the governor according to our findings.”

The police spokesperson said Mr Mohammed “on interrogation stated that he acted out of anxiety and emotional excitement, expressing a long-held desire to meet with the governor and the president. Mohammed was screened and admitted into the stadium as an APC supporter, wearing the standard campaign T-shirt and carrying banners bearing the images of the President and the governor, like every other supporter screened and admitted into the stadium by the event screening team.’’

Peoples Gazette on Friday reported Mr Tinubu was momentarily transfixed on Thursday amid an apparent security breach as his bodyguards scrambled to stop an intruder from reaching him on stage.

A video of his televised address in Kaduna showed what appeared to be a security breach.

Mr Tinubu was giving a speech in Kaduna on Thursday when he abruptly froze mid-sentence as he watched his security detail scrambling to protect him against a presumed threat.
