Man to sweep mosque premises for month over cable theft

A Magistrates’ Court in Abuja, on Tuesday, ordered a businessman, Musa Ibrahim, to sweep the Amur Mosque premises in Wuse II, for one month for stealing electrical cable.
Magistrate Lami Sani, sentenced Ibrahim after he pleaded guilty to mischief and theft.
Ibrahim had earlier begged for leniency and promised never to commit such an offence again.
The Prosecution Counsel, A.A. Adeleju, earlier told the court that the convict trespassed into the mosque on the pretext of collecting Ramadan food on March 5.
Adeleju said that while others were in queue for the meal, the convict followed the back door and removed the mosque electric cable.
He said that during police investigations, he confessed to the crime.
