An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday sentenced one Adebisi Ayobami to a one-month community service for stealing a crate of eggs.

The 25-year-old Mr Ayobami, who was of no fixed address and docked on a one-count charge, however, pleaded guilty to the charge.

The magistrate, Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair, ruled that he should go on a one-month community service and be released upon completion of the service thereafter.

Mr Sanusi-Zubair noted that the convict was a first-time offender, and the crate of eggs he stole had been recovered and given to the complainant, Bayo Adewale.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Oladejo Balogun, told the court that Mr Ayobami committed the offence on Thursday at about 1:00 p.m. in the Moniya area of Ibadan.

He said Mr Ayobami took the eggs without the complainant’s consent and committed an offence consequently, contrary to Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
