Man in court for allegedly receiving stolen motor parts

The police on Wednesday arraigned a 52-year old man, Taye Oni, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly receiving stolen motor vehicle parts.
The defendant, whose address was not given, is being charged with receiving stolen property.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Olasunkanmi Bamikole, told the court that the defendant committed the offence at about 10.00a.m on July 16, at Ilupeju-Ekiti.
Mr Bamikole said that Oni received stolen motor vehicle parts, motorcycles and scraps belonging to the Ekiti State Electricity Board.
He said that the offence contravened Section 343(2) (a) and (b) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021
.
The prosecutor prayed the court for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present witnesses.
Counsel to the defendant, Timi Omotosho, urged the court to grant his client bail, promising that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Saka Afunso, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until August 26 for hearing.
