Man docked for allegedly obtaining N2.5 million by false pretence

A 35-year-old man, Adeyinka Oyinlola, on Monday appeared at an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court for allegedly conspiring with others currently at large to obtain N2.5 million under false pretence.
Mr Oyinlola, whose address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, obtaining under false pretences and stealing.
Prosecutor Adegeshin Famuyiwa told the court that the defendant committed the offences on November 8, at about 10:00 a.m., at Ogodongbon area of Ikorodu in Lagos.
Mr Famuyiwa said that the defendant allegedly collected the sum of N2.5 million from the complainant, Akinola Abosede, with the pretence of selling one plot of land to her knowing fully well that it was not true and also converted the money to his personal use.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, A.O Ogbe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until December 8 for mention.
