Man arrested for name-dropping Nasarawa governor to defraud victim of N17 million

Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested one Shuaibu Isiaka, aka Ziko, for allegedly using the name of Governor Abdullahi Sule to commit fraud.
In a press statement on Sunday, the command’s public relations officer, Ramhan Nansel, said the suspect allegedly defrauded a victim of N17 million under false pretence.
Mr Nansel stated, “Police operatives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Nasarawa State Police command have arrested one Shuaibu Isiaka AKA Ziko ‘M’ 58yrs of Tudun Gwandara, Lafia for name-dropping the executive governor of Nasarawa State and defrauding an unsuspecting member of the public to the tune of seventeen million (#17,000,000) Naira.”
He said a petition was filed against the suspect, who obtained money under false pretence from the victim under the guise of being offered a contract by the state government.
“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime but stated that the amount obtained from the victim was fourteen million and not seventeen million as alleged,” the command spokesperson stated.
He disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Umar Nadada, has ordered an investigation into the case and directed the investigators to go after anyone found to be connected to the crime, no matter how highly placed.
