Man, 44, in court for allegedly injuring another

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

A 44-year-old man, Taiwo Adeyemi, who allegedly beat up another man and inflicted an injury on his left eye, on Thursday appeared before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.

Adeyemi, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of assault and causing grievous harm.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Adegeshin Famuyiwa, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on February 22 at 9p.m. at the Energy Bus Stop in Parafa area of Ikorodu.

Mr Famuyiwa alleged that the defendant assaulted the complainant, Kazeem Abdullah, by beating him up and inflicting injury on his left eye over an undisclosed matter.

He alleged that the injury caused the complainant grievous harm and left him blind.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Sections 170 and 174 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, A.O. Ogbe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties each in like sum.

Mr Ogbe adjourned the case until May 15, for trial.
