Man, 18, arraigned over alleged theft of iron steel worth N5 million

An 18-year-old man, Mutairu Mohammed, on Wednesday appeared before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing seven pieces of iron steel valued at N5 million.
Mohammed, whose address was not provided, was charged with a one-count charge of stealing.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Adegeshin Famuyiwa, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 9 at about 9 p.m at Ireshe Road in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
According to Famuyiwa, the offence contravenes Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, O.A. Ogbe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 and two sureties in like sum, who were gainfully employed with verifiable addresses.
Ogbe adjourned the case until July 24 for mention.
