London-Lagos solo driver Pelumi Nubi arrives Nigeria after 68 days road trip

Travel content creator Pelumi Nubi arrived in Nigeria on Sunday after the London to Lagos road trip she embarked upon on January 31, 2024.
Nubi was welcomed at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border by Toke Benson-Awoyinka, the Lagos Commissioner of Tourism, Arts, and Culture and Idris Aregbe, the Special Adviser on Tourism, Arts, and Culture to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Nubi’s next destination was Badagry before proceeding to UNILAG for her homecoming celebration.
Her road manifest from the UK took her through France and Spain into Africa through Morocco.
It indicates that she drove across Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Ghana, Togo, Benin, and finally to Lagos, Nigeria.
During her solo road trip, she encountered numerous challenges, including a crash in March, from which she survived. Video footage depicted severe damage to the front of her vehicle and a shattered windshield.
She also faced difficulties with several African immigration officers denying her entry to Sierra Leone at the border.
”I was very lonely; I missed my family and friends. I was shaken when I had an accident, but I’m grateful it was just a temporary setback,” said Ms Nubi.
Ms Nubi said she embarked on the journey to connect the two places she calls home.
“I wanted to undertake something truly brave, something that symbolically connects the two places I consider home and where I’ve spent significant time,” she stated.
In 2022, Ms Nubi gained attention for exploring 77 countries before age 27. With her most recent journey, she has continued to expand her international experiences.
