Liverpool beat Chelsea to lift Carabao Cup

In a fierce battle that extended into extra time on Sunday, Liverpool narrowly defeated Chelsea 1-0 in the finals of Carabao Cup to lift the trophy this season.
Like they did in 2022, Liverpool triumphed over Chelsea, five-time winner, to win their 10th EFL Cup, regaining the record for the most wins of the trophy.
It was a night of fantastic performance for both teams as they pushed hard without goals in the first and second half.
But Liverpool broke the deadlock in the 118th minute as Virgil van Dijk netted a screamer, the only goal in the interesting encounter.
The Blues gave a tough fight but could not secure an equaliser to extend the game further into a penalty shootout.
With Sunday’s win, Liverpool gave their manager, Jurgen Klopp, who is leaving the club after this season, a deserved parting gift.
The win is first of a potential quadruple this season for Klopp Liverpool who are a strong contender in the English Premier league, UEFA Champions League and FA Cup.
