Lightning strike kills six people in Adamawa

The police command in Adamawa has confirmed the death of six people following a lightning strike in the Ganye council.
The command’s spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed this in a statement on Monday.
Mr Nguroje said the incident occurred on Sunday at about 4:00 p.m. in Dadiri-Tirigali village within the locality during heavy rainfall.
According to him, the command received an emergency report from the Ganye Divisional Headquarters on the natural disaster.
“The report said that lightning had struck nine persons who were working on a farm in the village.
”On receipt of the report, personnel from the division were promptly deployed to the scene, who, on reaching there, found the victims lying unconscious on the ground.
”Three of the victims later regained consciousness, while the remaining six were confirmed dead by medical personnel,” he said.
