Lawyer urges government to prioritise women empowerment

An Ilorin-based legal practitioner, Yusuf Jimoh, has advised governments at all levels to prioritise the matter of empowering women economically in the country.
Mr Jimoh, who gave the advice in Ilorin on Sunday, told journalists that women should be considered first because they are creative.
According to him, women are creative and should be considered first on the list of empowerment.
“Women are special creatures. When you give them one thing, they will turn it to two things with their creative skills.
“And when the government empowers women, it is empowering the family and the nation by extension.
“Government should therefore prioritise women empowerment and see the magic of poverty eradication.
“Everyone will benefit from women empowerment because they are the mother of the family,” he advised.
The lawyer, however, also called on government to support women both financially and morally.
He urged government to enrol women in more free creative skills acquisition programmes and support them with soft loans and cash.
