An Ilorin-based legal practitioner, Muritala Yakubu, has cautioned youths about the use of social media, saying “the younger generation always tries to embrace negative ideas.”

Mr Yakubu, who said this in an interview with journalists in Ilorin on Saturday, said social media has influenced most youths negatively in the country.

According to him, most youths copy bad trends on social media, forgetting their morality.

The lawyer added that “addiction to social media has increased the level of decadence and indecency in society.

“The society is gradually losing the moral fight to social media. Youths see everything on social media as the best to practice.

“But most contents are corrupt and need to be completely taken down or erased.

“There is need for government to act fast to regulate social media. The youths are already losing their morality to social media and Internet influence.”

He also called on parents to caution their wards and watch them closely when operating their social media pages.
