Lawmaker launches Badagry 1,000 tech talents project, trains 200 youths

The lawmaker representing Badagry Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Sesi Whingan, on Saturday, launched Badagry 1000 Tech Talents Project (Badagry 1000TTP), with the training of 200 youths.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the project, Mr Whingan said it was designed to equip 1,000 young people in Badagry with vital digital skills.
He said the project started with 200 young participants who gathered at Kemmy-Sam School in Aradagun, Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos state.
The lawmaker said the four-week intensive training course was aimed at transforming them into skilled digital professionals.
“Badagry 1000TTP is a latest youth development project. It seeks to train youths in the areas of web development, product management, data analysis, and project management.
“The project is being delivered in partnership with Codeverse Africa, a reputable Tech training organisation, to ensure the programme maintains high-quality standards and practical relevance,” he said.
who was represented by Mrs Bukola Agemo, a member of the technical committee of the project, emphasised the importance of equipping young people with digital skills in today’s economy.
“This programme represents a crucial investment in the future of Badagry’s youth, empowering them to secure competitive roles in the technology industry.
“Through this training, we are not only shaping individual future but also contributing to Badagry’s long-term socioeconomic development,” he said.
Participants were drawn from the three councils in Badagry Federal Constituencies comprising Badagry Local Government, Olorunda LCDA, and Badagry West LCDA.
The lawmaker said each participant was expected to receive hands-on training that combined theory with practical experience, focusing on real-world applications of digital skills.
“The training will run intensively over the next four weeks, ensuring that participants receive a solid foundation in their chosen field.
“As the programme progresses, it is expected to empower the youth with the skills needed to pursue careers in technology, thereby increasing their employability and entrepreneurial potential.
“The Badagry 1000TTP is an integral part of Whingan’s broader vision to create a tech-enabled future for Badagry.
“With this initiative, I hope to drive digital transformation across the constituency, unlocking new economic opportunities for local youths and positioning Badagry as a rising hub for technology talent in Lagos state,” he said.
