Lagos: Policeman arraigned, remanded in Kirikiri for defiling 17-year-old inside station

A Magistrates Court in Lagos on Tuesday, remanded an officer of the Nigeria Police Force in prison for defiling a 17-year-old girl in the premises of the Ogudu Area Command.
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), in a statement on Wednesday, said the now retired officer, was arraigned earlier in the day before Magistrate Fagbohun who adjourned the case and ordered the suspect’s remand.
The agency said, “In its continuous fight against domestic and sexual violence has updated the general public that a Police Officer, now retired, who allegedly defiled a 17-year-old survivor at Ogudu Area Command.was arraigned before Magistrate Fagbohun, Court 11, on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.”
“Following his arraignment, he was remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Facility and the case was adjourned to March 11, 2025, pending the issuance of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) legal advice.”
The teenage girl was said to have gone to the station on June 29, 2024, to report about her stolen phone, when the errant allegedly tricked her into his office, where he allegedly raped her.
DSVA spokesperson, Adejoke Ladenegan-Oginni, said the agency, in its resolve to ensuring justice, along with the state government’s zero-tolerance for sexual and domestic violence, urged the public to assist the government to stamp out the menace by saying something whenever they see something.
