Lagos: Police nab four burglars, warn against buying stolen items

Four men who allegedly broke into a warehouse and carted away several items worth millions of naira have been arrested by men of the Lagos police command.
Spokesman for the police in Lagos, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest on his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday.
Mr Hundeyin said the suspects also attacked a student and dispossessed him of his belongings on his way from school.
He said while three suspected criminals were arrested at about 4:55 a.m. on Monday by patrol officers from the Ikotun Division, the fourth gang member was apprehended at about 1:02 a.m. on Tuesday at the Ojota bus stop.
The security personnel had arrested three suspected thieves when they attempted to escape with stolen goods after they had broken into a warehouse at Kwara Bus stop, Igando Road.
Meanwhile, Mr Hundeyin has advised members of the public to always do diligence and background checks before buying items, particularly vehicles, to avoid being described as conspirators.
“This is so as the owners of the stolen items or vehicle may have reported the theft to the police for recovery.
“Snatched and stolen vehicles are being sold, sometimes through registered car dealers,” he said, adding that “under the law, ignorance is not an excuse.“
