The Lagos government has ordered internet service providers to clean up and properly arrange their telecommunications infrastructure ahead of an enforcement exercise scheduled for Monday.

The directive was issued by the Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA) in a notice dated November 2, 2026.

The agency listed Ilasan and Ikate, Allen Avenue in Ikeja, and the customs office, off Toyin Street, Ikeja, as areas where internet service providers must immediately clean up and sanitise their network infrastructure.

According to the notice, affected companies are expected to ensure that their cables and other installations are properly arranged, secured and cleared of obstructions or anything that could constitute an environmental nuisance.

LASIMRA warned that enforcement operations would begin on Monday, urging all concerned firms to complete the required work before the deadline to avoid possible sanctions.

The agency also urged companies to take the directive seriously and cooperate with its officials.

The move is part of efforts to address growing concerns surrounding poorly arranged telecommunications cables and infrastructure, which can contribute to environmental nuisance and affect the appearance and safety of public spaces.

LASIMRA, which is responsible for regulating infrastructure maintenance in Lagos, said the directive aimed at promoting a safer, cleaner and better-regulated environment across the state.

The agency’s notice was signed by its general manager, Oyekanmi Elegushi.
