Lagos father charged with attempted murder of 11-year-old stepson

A 45-year-old man, Aramide Tito, was on Monday arraigned before the Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for starving and assaulting his 11-year-old stepson.
The defendant was charged with indecent deal, assault and attempted murder.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, ASP Clément Okuoimose, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on August 17, at about 11:00.p.m, at Oke Ogbe Area, Atura, Badagry, Lagos.
Mr Okuoimose alleged that the defendant unlawfully beat up and starved his stepson for three days.
“The defendant poured hot water on him while he was sleeping. He attempted to murder the boy while he was sleeping,” the prosecutor told the court.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Sections 135, 245 and 230 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos state, 2015.
The chief magistrate, A.J. Aina, admitted the defendant to bail of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He said that each of the surety must be gainfully employed.
Mr Aina adjourned the case until September 25 for a hearing.
