Lagos deputy governor urges youth to be focused despite Nigeria’s challenges

Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat has advised youths to remain focused on their goals despite the economic challenges in the country.
Mr Hamzat gave the advice during a courtesy visit of an Estonian slackliner and Guinness World Records holder, Jaan Roose, on Friday in Lagos.
The deputy governor said his action was a show of determination which must be learnt by all.
“Whatsoever you put your minds to, be committed and believe that you can achieve it.
“The young should be committed and determined irrespective of challenges faced; they should learn to be focused,” he said.
Mr Hamzat appreciated Mr Roose for showcasing the state, adding that many lessons could be learnt from his action.
In his remarks, the world record holder commended the Lagos State government for the development, especially in the transportation sector.
Commenting on how he felt while displaying his acts, Mr Roose said he was afraid, but the joy and happiness in the people encouraged him to do more.
Slacklining, not common in Nigeria, is a sport that entails walking on a rope suspended above the ground.
It is often used for balance training, recreation and moving meditation.
Mr Roose, to the admiration of all, on Thursday walked on a rope from Sterling Towers to Onome Rig, Marina, Lagos.
The 31-year-old, known for possessing nerves of steel, is a three-time world champion, a holder of numerous world records and the first athlete to execute a double backflip on a slackline.
Mr Roose partnered with the Lagos State government and the Lagos Safety Commission to capture the ‘Perfect Lagos Selfie’ from Sterling Tower, Marina Lagos, to the Onome Rig.
