Lagos and Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, have been ranked among Africa’s 30 most attractive cities, according to a report.

The two major cities were listed on the 11th and 20th positions in the ranking published by the African and sister magazine Jeune Afrique, the leading pan-African media.

Other cities ranked in the publication include Le cap, Kigali, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Accra, Lome, Tunis, and Kampala, among 21 others.

The ranking is based on sub-criteria grouped into five main categories; quality of life, infrastructure and housing, employment and economic opportunities, essential services, and foreign direct investment.

The report also highlights the major challenges facing the cities to include urban planning, integrating new urban residents, and strengthening infrastructure.

The groundbreaking ranking offers a detailed, multidimensional analysis of Africa’s major cities based on nearly 2,000 responses from its engaged community of readers as part of an extensive participatory survey.

Jeune Afrique Media Group, founded in Tunis in 1960 is a pan-African media company based in Paris.

The group also provides coverage of African and international news, as well as insights into the continent’s political and economic challenges, in both French and English.
