Kylian Mbappe scores as Real Madrid beat Atalanta to win sixth UEFA Super Cup title

Kylian Mbappe scored on his official Real Madrid debut as the Spanish champions defeated Italian side Atalanta 2-0 at the National Stadium in Warsaw, Poland, to win their sixth UEFA Super Cup title.
Surprisingly, it did not go Real Madrid’s way in the first half despite the powerful lineup of Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo and Mbappe as Atalanta were able to keep the Los Blancos at bay.
Both Real Madrid and Atalanta struck the crossbar in the game with Eder Militao redirecting Atalanta’s effort towards his own net while Rodrygo’s left-footed shot rocketed the crossbar in the opposite direction.
Two minutes into the second half, Atalanta almost grabbed the opener but Mario Pasalic’s header was saved by Thibuat Courtois with his fingertips.
Real Madrid broke the deadlock one minute before the hour mark through Federico Valverde who only needed to tap-in a through pass from Vinicius into an empty net.
Meanwhile, Mbappe got his name on the scoresheet in the 68th minute after the World Cup winner rocketed Jude Bellingham’s pass inside the area into the top-right corner to secure the victory for Real Madrid.
It is Real Madrid’s first trophy of the new season and Mbappe’s first silverware for his new club as Carlo Ancelotti’s side becomes the most successful team in UEFA Super Cup history.
