Kwara NAWOJ trains 100 women journalists in entrepreneurship for fun-filled retirement

The National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kwara State chapter, has trained 100 women journalists in the state in entrepreneurship and skills.
The theme of the training is “Entrepreneurship: Empowering Women Journalists for Financial Sustainability after Retirement.”
In a speech at the opening of the training on Saturday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Bashiru Adigun, enjoined women journalists to engage in vocational skills, content creation and online marketing to have a fun-filled retirement.
Mr Adigun emphasised the need for them to engage in multiple and positive tasks after active service to ensure financial sustainability.
The Dean of the School of Communication Studies, Federal Polytechnic Offa, Dr David Oloyede, underscored the need to stay healthy and plan for retirement even when in active service.
Mr Oloyede said that retirement should be seen as a new chapter of life hence resources must be harnessed to ensure that it did not become a burden but a time to enjoy oneself.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Communication, Hassanat Muhammad, called on the participants to always desire to acquire new knowledge both in active service and during retirement.
Muhammad described the theme of the programme as apt, emphasising the importance of entrepreneurship skills for women journalists.
In a speech, the NAWOJ Chairperson, Basirat Ayantola, said that members were sensitised to the need to diversify and deploy their talents to create wealth for a stress-free retirement.
