Kwara govt. committed to youth development, says commissioner

The Kwara government is committed to youth development in order to make youths useful to themselves and society, the state commissioner for environment, Shehu Ndanusa, has said.
Mr Ndanusa said this on Friday during the closing ceremony of a three-day workshop organised for youths and women on climate smart municipal solid waste management.
The workshop was organised by the federal ministry of environment, in collaboration with the state’s ministry of environment.
Mr Ndanusa said the administration of Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq was committed to youth development and ready to develop the youths to meet the challenges of adolescence and adulthood.
“This will make them achieve their full potential and be useful to themselves and the society at large,” he said.
The Commissioner charged participants to utilise knowledge gained from both Timekus Global Resource Limited and Chyme Pacers Ventures Limited to establish their businesses and be self-employed for a better living.
“Waste management is a lucrative business which serious-minded youths can tap into and excel in life.
“I assure you that government will support you, even after the training, for you to be self-independent,” Mr Ndanusa said.
Earlier, the representative of the federal ministry of environment, from pollution control and environmental health, Zakariya Kutsr, had commended the state government for its effort.
Mr Kutsr disclosed that all the participants would be given start-up capital as empowerment to start their business in waste management.
He also gave an assurance that the federal ministry of environment would continue to partner with the state for youth development.
60 youths selected from different parts of the state were trained on climate smart municipal solid waste management.
