The Ayedun community in the Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara has sought collaboration between the state and the local government for the establishment of a higher institution in the community.

President of the Ayedun Development Association (ADA), Idowu Ogunshola, stated this on Saturday at an event to honour the sons and daughters of Ayedun and other distinguished guests.

Mr Ogunsola said the community was willing to partner with the government on infrastructure development.

He said the community would play its part through collaboration with the local, state and federal authorities and their agencies, including private organisations, to make the project a reality.

“No amount of money raised here today can be sufficient. We, therefore, want connectivity, relationships, interrelationships and collaboration with the local, state and federal authorities,” he said.

He said this would help facilitate significant projects for the community, particularly in the area of bringing tertiary institutions to the area.

A bill to establish the Federal College of Nursing and Midwifery had earlier been proposed by Tunji Olawuyi (APC-Kwara) in the House of Representatives.

Mr Ogunshola, however, said schools of nursing, polytechnics and universities, as well as healthcare services through the upgrade of the existing hospitals, would help in enhancing the development of the community.

He also called for assistance in the areas of agriculture, manufacturing industries, and other infrastructures related to the community.

Mr Ogunshola further stated that road construction to link other communities to facilitate inter-state economic development would also help in reducing the plight of the residents.
