Kwara assembly seeks deployment of corps members to medical facilities in rural areas

The Kwara House of Assembly has urged the state government to partner with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to increase the number of medical graduates deployed to the state, particularly in rural areas.
The call followed a motion by Bello Oniboki (APC/Afon). It was seconded by Abolarin Gabriel (APC/Ekiti) at Tuesday’s plenary, highlighting the shortage of medical personnel in rural areas.
Mr Oniboki emphasised that partnering with NYSC would complement existing medical staff and provide quality healthcare services to rural communities lacking access to physicians.
The speaker, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, urged Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to direct the Ministry of Health to develop incentives for corps members to work in rural areas.
