Mamman Nda-Eri, chairman, Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), on Saturday, expressed satisfaction with the turnout and peaceful conduct of voters during the local councils election.
The chairman made the remarks in an interview with journalists on his impression after monitoring the election in Lokoja metropolis.
“Myself, officials of the commission and heads of security agencies in the state have gone round to monitor the exercise in Lokoja. I must say that I am impressed with the response from the electorate for the election.
“In most of the polling units we visited, the voters were orderly and the electoral officials were busy doing their work to ensure that the process went seamlessly.
“Security personnel were visibly seen manning the various polling units to ensure peace and security of all the people.
“I can beat my chest, that the local government election in Kogi is peaceful, free, fair and credible,” he said.
The KOSIEC chairman appreciated Gov. Usman Ododo’s administration for giving the commission all the necessary support needed to conduct the election.
