Kogi: APC congratulates Gov. Ododo on tribunal victory

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated Gov. Ahmed Ododo of Kogi on his victory at the election petition tribunal.
Felix Morka, the party’s national publicity secretary said this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
He thanked the party’s teeming members, supporters and the good people of Kogi for their steadfast support during the legal process in defence of Ododo’s electoral victory.
Mr Morka commended the judiciary for its professionalism and commitment toward strengthening the country’s democracy.
He said Mr Ododo’s victory at the election petition tribunal was a solid affirmation of the popular mandate handed to him and the APC by the Kogi electorate.
He assured that Mr Ododo would devote himself to consolidating on good governance of the confluence state and justify the confidence reposed on him by the electorate.
“This is a spectacular victory for all Kogi people irrespective of differences of any kind, we urge the opposition to accept the verdict of the tribunal and support Mr Ododo.
“As he continues to design and implement his many development policies and projects for the shared progress of the state,” Mr Morka said.
Murtala Ajaka, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate had challenged Mr Ododo’s victory at the tribunal alleging irregularities at the election.
He described his loss at the tribunal as a temporary setback, saying he would pursue the case to the highest court.
In the judgement, the three-member tribunal, led by Justice Ado Birnin-Kudu, held that the election of Mr Ododo was conducted in substantial compliance with the Electoral Act.
