Kidnapped Kogi female students regain freedom
Kidnapped female students of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, have regained their freedom.
The four female students were returning home for the Yuletide en route to Ondo when armed men abducted them on Friday.
The students were kidnapped on the Akunnu-Ajowa axis in the Akoko area of Ondo.
The victims (Badero Florence, Aregbesola Oreoluwa, Ahmed Ifeoluwa, and Olarotimi Omotoyosi) were freed in the early hours of Wednesday.
Soji Ogedengbe, a former state lawmaker, confirmed the release of the students.
Mr Ogedengbe, in a short message, said the students would soon be “reunited” with family members.
Funmilayo Odunlami Omisanya, the police spokeswoman in Ondo, could not be reached to confirm the release. But a top police source confirmed the release, revealing that the students had been taken to a hospital.
The source also mentioned that the students’ parents were notified of their freedom.
