Keyamo to appoint airport marshals for enhanced service delivery

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has announced plans to appoint airport marshals to improve service delivery and maintain environmental cleanliness at Nigerian airports.
This is contained in a statement signed by Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, on Thursday in Abuja.
Mr Keyamo said the initiative aimed to address the expectations of the travelling public and enhance the overall airport experience.
According to the minister, the airport marshals will comprise public-spirited individuals from various backgrounds, including the media, non-governmental organisations, and state governments.
“These marshals will conduct unscheduled visits to airports, monitoring staff conduct and assessing the general hygiene and conditions of the facilities,” said Mr Keyamo.
The minister emphasised that the marshals would report directly to him, enabling him to issue necessary directives to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) based on their findings.
“This initiative will introduce an additional layer of transparent supervision, ensuring that airport managers are held accountable for their responsibilities,” he said.
Mr Keyamo also announced plans to conduct unscheduled monthly inspections of airports nationwide, accompanied by key stakeholders, including the ministry’s permanent secretary, the managing director of FAAN, and members of the Senate and House Committees on Aviation.
