The Kebbi State Government has handed over the certificate of three hectares of land in Birnin Kebbi for Christian Cemetery to the Christian Association of Nigeria.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Abubakar Ahmed, handed over the letter to the state CAN Chairman, Dr Ayuba Kanta on Wednesday in Birnin Kebbi.

He stated, “I am directed to convey the approval of His Excellency, Governor Nasir Idris to you, for the burial ground he promised you during the Pastor Paul Enenche’s two-day evangelical crusade in Birnin Kebbi. In fulfilment of that promise, I am, on behalf of the ministry, handing over the certificate of allocation of three hectares of land to you. It is an open piece of land within Hutawa Grazing Reserve along old Kola Road in Birnin Kebbi for burial ground.’’

Mr Ahmed urged the association to ensure adherence to the conditions attached on the letter of grant for the urbanisation and development of the state.

Receiving the letter, Mr Kanta, expressed gratitude to the governor for fulfilling his promise to the association in the state.

He stated, “It has never been so good like this, the gesture is commendable, as the governor has now made our day. For many years, governor after governor, we were not able to get our cemetery until now that Governor Idris is the governor of our state. It’s pertinent to note that Idris is not only kind but just and fair, who has sympathy and empathy for all.’’

Mr Kanta prayed to God to give the governor strength, courage, ability, wisdom and health to discharge his mandate of leading the state to greatness.

The chairman noted, “We also commend the efforts of the permanent secretary for his unwavering support to us and his understanding throughout the period of processing the letter of grant.’’
