Katsina’s new CP seeks stakeholders’ support to combat crimes

The newly appointed Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, Bello Shehu, has sought support from stakeholders to ensure the safety and security of residents in the state.
Mr Shehu made the appeal on Friday through the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Aliyu, after assuming duty as the 26th Commissioner of Police in Katsina.
Mr Aliyu stated that Mr Shehu, who hails from Dukku Local Government Area of Gombe State, joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on June 10, 1994.
He noted that Mr Shehu holds a BSc in Sociology from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and an MSc in Security and Strategic Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna.
The PPRO added that Mr Shehu was posted as commissioner following the elevation of the former CP, Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
He described the new CP as a seasoned officer with vast experience, having served the force in various capacities.
Mr Aliyu stated, “The CP seeks support from all and sundry in the state in the course of discharging his duties.’’
He emphasised Mr Shehu’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Katsina residents.
“Shehu pledged to work with all relevant stakeholders to reduce crime to the barest minimum,” the PPRO quoted him as saying.
