Kano water board generates N160 million monthly: Official

The Kano State Water Board has recorded a significant increase in revenue generation, collecting over N160 million monthly, representing a 300 per cent.
The state commissioner for water resources, Umar Doguwa, said this while addressing journalists on the activities of his ministry on Tuesday in Kano.
Mr Doguwa said that the board’s monthly revenue has risen from less than N50 million to over N160 million, attributing the increase to reforms introduced by the ministry.
He explained that the board can now comfortably pay its staff salaries, following the increment of the minimum wage to N70,000.
“The ministry has conducted a census of all industries in the state to further boost the board’s operations and enhance revenue generation.
“When we came in, the Water Board was generating less than N50 million as revenue per month, but I can now tell you that we are generating approximately more than N160 million in a month, doubling the amount by 300 per cent.”
“The reforms introduced by the ministry has not only improved revenue generation but also enabled the board to pay its staff salaries comfortably, ensuring a stable workforce.
“The census of industries is expected to further enhance revenue generation and improve the board’s operations.”
