Kano vows to arrest, prosecute suspects caught vandalising light poles, electricity cables

The Kano State Metropolitan Agency (KASMA) has expressed concern over the incessant damage to street light poles and cables by residents and motorists in the state.
While responding to cases of vandalism in Kwanar Dala and Gwarzo Road in Kano metropolitan, the director-general of the agency, Hadiza Ahmad-Tukur, said, “the state government has zero tolerance for vandalism.”
The case involved one Haruna Saleh-Shuaibu and Alkasim Umar, residents of Rimin Gata.
This is contained in a statement spokesperson for the agency, Usman Abdullahi, on Sunday in Kano.
The statement said the suspects, accused of cable vandalism at Gwarzo Road, had been apprehended and handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police command for further investigation.
Ms Ahmad-Tukur warned those involved in such acts to desist from it as the state government would prosecute anyone involved in vandalising public facilities.
She expressed the state government’s commitment to procuring more infrastructure to improve security and socio-economic development in the state.
