Kano to splash N1.5 billion on mass wedding for 1,500 couples
The Kano State government says it has earmarked N1.5 billion for the mass wedding of 1,500 couples.
The Director General of the Kano State Hisbah, Abba Sufi, disclosed this to Channels Television on Monday at the premarital screening held for some of the intending couples.
Mr Sufi stated that, in addition to supporting the couples in starting a family, the programme would also address out-of-marriage births.
“If you engage in this programme, you cannot divorce until you come to the Kano Hisbah board. The premarital medical screening includes HIV, genotype and others,” he said.
