Kano revenue service urges companies to pay withholding tax

The Kano State Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) has urged companies operating in the state to settle outstanding withholding tax with immediate effect.
Ibrahim Abdullahi, director, debt management and enforcement (KIRS), said this on Monday during an enforcement exercise to some companies in Kano.
He said that Gov. Abba Yusuf’s administration was committed to serving the people through the execution of viable projects, hence the need for state taxpayers to comply.
“It is important for taxpayers to be compliant as at when due in order to avoid legal action against them.
“Once we receive a court order to seal any of the companies, they must pay before it can be reopened,” he said.
Mr Abdullahi commended Northern Rice and Oil Mills Limited for ensuring prompt payment of their tax to the government.
