Kano govt. inaugurates committee to investigate examination failure

The Kano state government has inaugurated a committee to investigate the mass failure in the recently concluded qualifying examinations for senior secondary schools in the state.
Balarabe Kiru, the director, public enlightenment, ministry of education, said this in a statement in Kano on Wednesday.
Mr Kiru said that the committee’s mandate included to determine the extent and causes of the failure.
“The committee will also assess whether there was compliance with the established procedure for releasing results,” he said.
“It is also part of the committee’s responsibility to advise the government on the best ways to conduct future examinations,” he said.
Mr Kiru said that the committee which had one week to submit its report, would be headed by Tajuddeen Gambo, special adviser to the governor on education.
He listed other members of the committee to include the executive secretary, Kano state senior secondary school management board, Kabiru Zakirai and the executive secretary, private and voluntary schools board, Baba Umar.
Also in the committee are, special adviser to the governor on students matters, Nura Ma’aji, the director, Kano educational resources department (KERD), Rabi Hussain and former director, Kano educational resources department, Rabiu Mijinyawa.
He said that the senior special assistant to the governor on girl child education, Hafsat Adhama would serve as the secretary.
